Ashley Cameron
Attorney at Law

Ashley Cameron is a Monterey Peninsula native who brings a thoughtful, strategic, and writing-driven approach to her work with Pernik Law. Ashley comes from a family of lawyers and holds a bachelor’s degree in English Writing from Azusa Pacific University. She earned her Juris Doctor from Monterey College of Law, where she graduated at the top of her class.
Ashley began her legal career with Pernik Law during its formative years, first as a law student and then as a young attorney. During this time, she gained hands-on experience in criminal defense and contributed to the firm’s early growth and development. She later pivoted to a focus on employment law and general civil litigation, and worked as an associate attorney at one of the largest civil firms in Monterey County. In this role, Ashley counseled employers on various employment law issues, drafted employee handbooks and policies to ensure compliance with California law, and represented employees in wrongful termination, harassment, and discrimination claims.
This background continues to shape her legal career, as her passion for clear, persuasive writing is central to her work and informs her role as Head of Research and Writing and In-House Counsel. Ashley advises firm leadership on employment and legal issues, and she plays a central role in shaping internal policy and case management. Ashley also brings her background and passion for writing into her role as Head of Research and Writing. In this capacity, she leads the firm’s legal research efforts, crafts compelling motions and briefs, and ensures that every argument is precise, well-supported, and strategically sound.
In her dual roles, Ashley brings empathy to every aspect of her work. She is deeply committed to helping the firm be the best it can be for its clients, attorneys, and staff, through careful counsel, clear communication, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Ashley is deeply committed to community engagement and professional leadership. She serves as an adjunct professor at Monterey College of Law, where she teaches legal writing courses. She is an active board member of Gathering for Women, a local nonprofit, as well as the Monterey County Women Lawyers Association, where she recently served as President. In addition, Ashley serves on the Monterey County Superior Court Joint Committee for the Elimination of Bias.
In her free time, Ashley is an avid reader, a movie buff, and enjoys spending quality time with her husband and son.
